I started doing a Sensory Storytime last year. I attended a session at a conference and was hooked. In my background I helped out in classrooms and did respite care for kids with varying needs. I truly believe the library should be a place for everyone but I also know that my weekly storytimes can be a bit rowdy and overwhelming.

I emailed and called agencies in the area before starting my monthly sessions. I advertised in the library and out in the community. Although we met for at least six months I only had a handful of families participate. For the summer months I plan to continue the monthly Sensory Stortime format but call it Family Storytime instead.

How long do you try out a program before dropping it? People in the community have remarked that they love that we offer the program. Do you keep a program going that serves a need and hope others will join in at their own pace?
